Khao Lak is also one of Thailand’s top tourist destinations, and offers everything from five star luxury hotels to budget guesthouses. There is no real centre of Khao Lak, but along the main – street you will find local restaurants. For those of you that will not lie in the sun the entire holiday and like to be active you; may want to try diving and snorkeling, for example, go to the diving paradise Similian Islands and Surin Islands Marine National Parks. Which are located a few hours boat ride from Khao Lak. Similian Islands are regarded as one of the ten best diving sites in the world. Here you can experience unspoiled scenery, powder-white beaches and crystal clear water with coral fish in all colours. The small Islands group that snorkelers and divers from around the world come to see the colourful coral reefs. If you are lucky, you can see turtles, the incredible Manta rays, and also Whale Shark and much more.
If you’re not into diving; you can go to one of the beautiful waterfalls in the area, Nam Tok Tone Prai or Nam Tok Lámpi. For those who play golf, the is a golf course only 10 km away. About 90 km from Khao Lak is Southern Thailand’s largest national park, Khao Sok, in the dense rain forest lives an incredibly wildlife, it is also here you can find the enormous Cheow Lan Lake, with is located inside Khao Sok National Park.
Cheow Lan lake is famous for its fantastic fishing, for the aggressive predator fish; the Giant Snakehead and Hampala Barb, and in the clear jungle rivers that flow into Cheow Lan Lake. You can find world class fly fishing for the strong Thai Mahseer. But Khao Sok National Park offers much more than the fantastic fishing; you can hike, or ride on an elephant through the jungle, or take a sightseeing trip on the lake and enjoy the incredible beautiful scenery and all the wildlife.
